Tsunami Victims of Mentawai Call You

A year ago, 30 September 2009, Pariaman in shaken by earthquake measuring 7.6 Richter. The victim fell down, homes, schools, mosques, roads and other buildings are falling apart due to the earthquake. Until now the rest of the destruction caused by the earthquake are still visible in Pariaman.

Unfinished grief and trauma to society caused by the earthquake of 2009, on 25 October 2010, tectonic earthquake occurred off the coast back Pariaman radius of 76 kilometers from the coast of the Mentawai at a depth of 10 Kilometers on the seabed. This earthquake besides destroying people's homes in the Mentawai Islands (especially Pagai, Sipora and Siberut) also resulted in many casualties. An earthquake with magnitude 7.7 force has also resulted in the arrival of the tsunami with waves reaching 8 meters. The tsunami swept Pagai island and surrounding mainland as far as 1 kilometer.

Until now reached 315 fatalities, 600 people declared missing and 4,000 people forced to live in the camp. Mentawai Islands are located off the coast of Pariaman city, before becoming its own district, the Mentawai Islands regency is Padang Pariaman. To achieve the Mentawai Islands, we can use the boat from Padang or aircraft. Due to bad weather at this time we find it difficult to deliver humanitarian aid. We are concerned to provide humanitarian assistance to mothers, children, babies and pregnant women. Like the earthquake occurrence in Pariaman years ago, their needs are very rarely receive attention from government and humanitarian NGOs who arrived with humanitarian aid.
