DO Its Now!!

On Wednesday evening last (8/12/10) I have an appointment to meet with one of the top artists in this country. Artists currently on the rise, as well as his ability in the acting world, especially movies and movies Television (FTV), the artist whom I met also the son of a culture of poor across the world stage in this country. Introduction by this artist starts from a show that rewards the entrepreneurial in this country. Incidentally, farmers (friends) from West Sumatra became finalists and thank God managed to get the award (winner). Furthermore, because of busy each (especially him as the artist), communications take place via email. I then sent an email informing about the social movements that I was working with farmers, that we called the Movement Million Book For Farmers. The email I wrote, told her social activities that we have built together farmers. This movement, has commenced since 1999. Starting from a discussion with a farmer when I became an instructor training budget. From the little discussion we started doing social work to build self-reliance of farmers. From the emails I send, without the suspect, these artists are very enthusiastic about the social movement that we built for this. Through email, we promise to further discussion on this motion. Finally, we promise to meet in one place in the area of Pancoran South Of Jakarta.

Before the meeting, I got an sms from one of his old friends in Pontianak. He informs was in Jakarta, to attend acceptence award given by one of the Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia. Incidentally my friend, be one of the winners of scientific writing for the general category. Because of these winners are old friends and old enough not met, I attended the event held at one of the five-star hotel in Jalan Gatot Subroto Jakarta. In my mind, this event as one of the government's seriousness in promoting the rural sector in Indonesia in order to get the attention of many parties, which is certainly expected to contribute to the progress of these disadvantaged areas. Granting an award is actually a form of appreciation for this ministry to groups or individuals who take or give attention to disadvantaged areas. When, arrived at the venue, the room is so large (incidentally wearing Ballroom) seemed only a handful of people who are in the room. Most of those present were employees of the ministry, coupled with those organizer event and the finalists (winners) who came from various regions in Indonesia. I was chatting with friends (winner) before he climbed onto the stage to accept the prize (award), "space is really quiet for ya?". In addition, this event seems to only "catch-impression" because there is no sufficient information about this event, ranging from the purpose, process and blah .. blah .. blah .. one who sits beside me (I do not know) say "Sir, usual year-end." For a moment I was speechless, and wondering to myself, what the end of each year so there should be activity, especially from the Government which aims only to spend the rest of the budget? I am sorry not mean to "accuse" the activities undertaken by the Ministry is only spending budget. I think so, because the experience so far (especially as anti-corruption activist) there is a tendency to spend effort budget at year end. Mode like this, before the Law on state finances is, flare occurred. But since state finances in a performance-based governance, it should be a pattern or mode like this goes away by itself. Moreover, nowadays, almost all the "eye" good NGOs, press, legal state, parliament and other stakeholders "literate" mempelototi state financial management. I try to SMS a friend who is active at a anti-corruption organization in Indonesia, "the pattern and mode as it is still thriving sir" the friend replied when I asked about this mode. Ah ... well, I do not want to prejudice, perhaps the lack of information, because it lay me on issues that Seang done by this ministry. Whatever it is, I am grateful for my friends to be one winner, and I know very well my friend this, since the first (known 1993) is very concerned with the little people build independence through the efforts of a simple but useful.

At 16:00 pm, I left the hotel, but because there is an appointment with the artist in the area pancoran, my friend from Pontianak Pontianak directly to the airport because of flooding. Indeed, in some disasters in the Republic, I and my friends (including those from Pontianak) always garner support for the victims. When a disaster occurs Merapi and the Mentawai, Thank God we are, managed to distribute aid to the victims, my friend was delivering aid on Merapi, while I was delivering aid in the Mentawai. Likewise, when there is earthquake in Pariaman and Padang, 2009 and other disasters. Fundraising is the commitment that we have built together to "do the little things, but useful" than we are constantly complaining, blasphemy or whatever his name. Moreover, the government hopes. We think simple, to do good (especially for the weak) is not difficult as long as we willingly put it into practice. Since 1999, we have been doing the little things that are useful, do not have to cost a lot less talkative. With such a simple way of thinking, now we design a library for Farmer, as a continuation of the social movements that have been and still we've done so far, such as building schools for farmers field, build self-reliance of farmers through organic farming, building economic independence of farmers through Microfinance Institutions.

That afternoon, I arrived at TIS Square where we agreed to meet and discuss. In one coffee shop in the area, I came over first from the artist. After a time, beliaupun arrived at the location. After drinking messages, the discussion we start with small things. Honestly, at first I thought it would be difficult to explain social movement sedng we develop this. Perhaps because the layman, I think, usually the artist is more likely to behave borjouis, rah-rah and all assessed with the material. Usually the artist is busy with the development of the latest fashion, good hair, clothes, gadgets to lifestyle and other. Of course, if you talk to those themes, I will miss having never up to date development of the world.

I am grateful, because I lay view is wrong, these artists, starting with the very enthusiastic about this social movement. When I tell the background, vision and purpose and what-what has been and is being done and the work pattern of this movement, I was stunned, because the artist was very understanding with social movements. At first I thought it would be "struggling" to explain this activity, but it turns out he was more understanding and ultimately this discussion so interesting and mutual sharing of experience. I was pretty amazed, too, in addition to young age, grow from the association of Jakarta, and top artists also, it turns out very adequate knowledge and concern. Even without the promised anything (especially money) this artist, will work a maximum and invites her friends from the entertainment world to join in and attend this Movement.

After a lengthy discussion, finally at 21:00 pm the meeting ended. I returned to the house and the way I think that the country is indeed a lot of Maling (kotuptor), the leader of the most OMDO (talk only no Action) and various other negative stigma. But, I am sure there are many good people in this country who work and care about each other for the love of this country. I remember, in 2004 during discussions with the late Nurcholis Madjid (Cak Nur), he said "in Indonesia, a coalition of crime is very neat, unfortunately, a coalition of kindness are still scattered." Ah ... maybe it is called, "organized crime will beat the goodness that is not organized." If so, should we (any profession, background, color, religion, ethnicity) should unite to do little work on the busy and useful than wasting energy debating in various media. Remembering the words of the late Muhammad Natsir "Do not try to ignore that little small for something that has tremendous power."

Chinese Village in the City Pariaman

One corner of the town of Pariaman. This area is called Kampung China (village Chinese). Previously, Chinese ethnic settled this area. Until the freedom struggle of Indonesia (1945), Chinese ethnic, doing a massive exodus from this city. At that time, Chinese ethnic, many are killed by Indonesian freedom fighters. Murder of Chinese ethnic done because many of those who become spies Dutch colonial. So fighters Indonesia, catch a spy, and then through the military court, all these spy sentenced to death.
Unfortunately, some historians write, this event is stated as Chinese ethnic cleansing in Pariaman. That was a mistake in the writing of history. Because it is not just a spy from the Chinese ethnic sentenced to death, but all the spies who worked for the colonial Dutch, regardless of ethnic background. And indeed, at that time, almost all these spies are derived from Chinese ethnic.
As a result, to date there is no Chinese ethnic in Pariaman. Perhaps, this is the only city in Indonesia that no Chinese ethnic, and perhaps also the world.

View Of Pariaman

Pariaman one corner of the city that have a past history. When there is aggression Netherlands in 1947, this building is the headquarters of the Indonesian Navy, fighter-fighter Indonesia giving fierce resistance on the Dutch troops. Until the transfer of sovereignty from the Dutch Government on the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, Pariaman can never conquered by Dutch forces. During the war years 1945-1949, the Dutch army can only attack Pariaman in the daytime, at night they return to the city of Padang. Not surprisingly, in the embryo of the birth of this city the Indonesian Navy, until then moved to Surabaya.
In the past, at this crossroads stands the monument to mark the persistence fighters Indonesia against Dutch aggression troops, the monument is called Tugu ALRI. Unfortunately, some time ago, the monument was in the destroyed and replaced with a monument Tabuik. A policy taken by government Pariaman who do not understand history.
This building was formerly the headquarters of the Dutch navy in the fight, now this building is in use by the PT. State Electricity Company (PLN). This building is physically nothing has changed.

Whole Love For Victims of Tsunami Mentawai

"Do good to good people in our usual in such matters, but to do good to those who do evil to us was just incredible".

This expression reminds me, when someone asked me about the cynical tone of my activity to help the victims of natural disasters. Cynical question was raised by my close friend since college until now. My friend asked why I was helping victims of natural disasters (eg victims of Earthquake and Tsunami) different backgrounds, ethnicities, religions and races with me.

I answered, because they are human beings created by God, and we are also God's creation that has love and compassion. Later, my friend was asked again, would not we help those who had ever hurt our community or our religion?. I paused to hear this question, I think, this question makes sense but motivated revenge. At that time I just answered, if so, help the victims of religion and tribe together with you. Since I do not want to argue with this problem because I think the timing is not right. The thought and effort we are still greatly needed by the victims of the Tsunami Mentawai. They currently, still hoping a helping hand from us, a very useful aid for tsunami victims, still can not be optimally distributed to the victims scattered in corners and in the Mentawai islands. Constraints bad weather, high waves and strong winds, resulting in humanitarian assistance is still piling up in Sikakap.

I also do not blame the question from my friend, because I know, he's very concerned with issues of world justice. So far, the major countries (eg USA and EU) applies a "lack of fair and applying double standards" on various issues mainly related to democracy, human rights, and world economic order. Perhaps my friend, thinking that, the behavior of these countries are ceminan behavior of citizens and their religion. Naturally, my friend I think so, because the state is a reflection of the behavior of people, the desire of people who have a homeland and a common purpose. However, that theory now may no longer be so, because in many countries, relations between the state and its people no distance or sometimes does not match what is desired by people. Many political policy, economics or international relations taken by a country far away from "the reach of its people". No wonder, when Israel attacked Gaza, many groups in Israel protest and a humanitarian volunteer in Gaza. Or when the USA decided to invade Iraq (2003), many U.S. citizens who do not protest and even rare USA citizens who joined to fight with the Iraqi people to fight invasion USA.
Perhaps this is unique creature called Man. But there are definite similarities possessed by humans that is love, mercy and justice. When a sense of love and justice are violated, then they will fight. Similarly, when we see injustice and suffering (such as victims of natural disasters, war and social conflict).

Ah ... I hope you can understand this my friend. I know you are very helpful and concerned with humanity. Let's forget past problems of politics and international conspiracy or other views. It's just a matter of humanity, in front of your eyes there Mentawai Earthquake and Tsunami victims who desperately need your help. They are waiting for your presence among those who live in refugee camps. I sure would love to beat all the difference.

Justice is good, but Wisdom is the best.

History Of Pariaman

Pariaman in ancient times is an area that is known by foreign merchants since 1500an. The oldest records about Tomec Pariaman found by Pires (1446-1524), a Portuguese sailor who worked for the Portuguese empire in Asia. He noted there have been traffic between India's trade with Pariaman, Tiku and Barus.

Two three Gujarat ships visit each year Pariaman bring cloth to the natives bartered with gold, aloes, camphor, wax and honey. Pires also said that Pariaman had held the horse trade that brought from Batak to the Land of Sunda.

Later, the French nation came about in 1527 under the command of a politician and businessman namely Jean Ango. He sent two merchant ships, led by two brothers namely Jean and Raoul Parmentier. Both these vessels had entered the offshore Pariaman and stop in Tiku and Indrapura. But his men languishing disease, so the record of two brothers is not much found.

Date 21 November 1600 for the first time the Dutch nation stopover in Tiku and Pariaman, ie 2 ships under the command of Paul van Cardeen which sailed from the north (Aceh and Pasaman) and then followed by another Dutch ship. Cornelis de Houtman who arrived in Sunda Kelapa 1596 Pariaman also pass through the waters.

Year 1686, the Pariaman (Pryaman as written in the notes to W. Marsden) began an association with the British.

As a region, located on the seashore, Pariaman has become a destination of trade and conquest of foreign nations who do cruise ships a few centuries ago. Port entreport Pariaman was very advanced. But with the passage of the port is getting lonely because one of the causes is the start of construction of the railroad from Padang to Pariaman in 1908.

When trade relations with various nations, cultures that they bring with acculturation with the local culture. Not surprisingly, until now the attitude of tolerance and mutual respect for differences in growth and development in Pariaman. During this trade, the tradition of the Ark (Tabuik) entered into Pariaman. According to historical records, the tradition of the Ark, was first performed by the traders who came from Gujarat and Persia. Every Muharram (Islamic month names), they carry the Ark as a form of mourning ritual they (followers of Shiite) for the killing of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad SAW in Karbela. In Karbela Hussein and his entire family in brutally massacred by the Umayyads troops led by Yazid bin Muawiyah. This event is celebrated in many Shiite Islamic state. In Pariaman, the Ark is increasingly widespread tradition when the Governor-General of England (Stamford Raffles) left Bengkulu towards Singapore, the British soldier from the Tamil and Muslim Gurkha many are spread on the island of Sumatra, including Pariaman. The tradition of the Ark was later to become community traditions Pariaman although most people are adherents of Islam Ahlulsunnahwaljama'ah Pariaman.

When the period of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia, Pariaman become one of the strategic areas that became the basis of resistance against Dutch colonial. Through Pariaman Beach, smuggled weapons to the fighters, it's no wonder Tuanku Imam Bonjol a warlord in the area. In fact, Teuku Umar (Aceh fighters against the Dutch) is the son of Pariaman descent. In addition to producing tough fighters-fighters, Pariaman also generate a lot of great scholars who spread Islam in the archipelago. Tuanku Sungai Rotan, Tuanku Pariaman, Syech Burnahnuddin, Buya Faqih Saleh, Tuanku Sutan Darab, and others were born as a scholar and warrior.

In Pariaman, INS Kayutanam School was founded by Muhammad Syafe'i. In the Dutch colonial period this school (along with the Muhammadiyah and the Taman Siswa schools) in school called "Inlander" (rebels). This school is in addition to producing educated people are also behind many great painters of Indonesia.

During the first Dutch aggresi 1947, Pariaman a base defense of freedom fighters from the Dutch attack. Dutch troops difficulty mastered this area although it has been successfully mastered Padang and Bukittinggi, but because Pariaman have not mastered the Dutch troops could not freely run its colonial rule. Because the position Pariaman be between Padang and Bukittinggi. This ongoing resistance in Pariaman became the forerunners of the founding of the Indonesian Navy. when the Dutch handed over sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia in the Round Table conference, the Navy of the Republic of Indonesia on the move to Surabaya until now. First, at the intersection of Monument Pariaman standing navy, but monument is now replaced with a monument Ark (Tabuik), but the building that used fighters (Marine forces of the Republic of Indonesia) is still standing and used by PT. PLN (Persero).

The Secret Of Pariaman

Pariaman, a small town on the west coast island of Sumatra, Indonesia. Pariaman has a natural charm, culture and unique art. Culturally, people generally say that pariaman is part of Minangkabau culture.
